Bear with me: Simply Slaw also has Ariana Grande, lies, loss and livestock
Today’s Simply Slaw goes from light to pretty dark, so if you prefer your life with less drama, you might want to stop after “something borrowed.” Bon appétit.
Murphy Slaw
Something old: Be thankful this doesn’t come in Smell-O-Vision.
Something new: Here’s a splash of genius from Ariana Grande, channeling Celine Dion.
Something borrowed: I agree with the gist of this post: Even if you’re like me and “The Bear” isn’t for you, watch the episode he mentions. It’s brilliant. I’ve watched it four times and will again.
One of the surest ways to recharge is to witness elite talent, whether you’re in the arts, teaching, sales, medicine, whatever. And, like my favorite episode of “Lost,” this one is strong enough to stand by itself, helping you empathize with Richie even when he comes across as a jerk.
Something blue: We’ve all lost loved ones, and it’s easy to be at a loss for words when a loved one loses someone special. This essay offers insight on how even supportive statements might be sculpted more sensitively. Take: “I can’t imagine what you must be going through.”
“The statement has the unintended effect of isolating us on a grief island, as though loss was somehow singularly ours. So instead of putting our feelings in an unimaginable silo, try relating to us. Say something like, ‘I remember when I lost my X and I felt X’. Or maybe share a specific memory like ‘I really enjoyed watching your dad coach you in soccer. I’m going to miss that.’”
Something political: My posts generally stay away from politics — and will continue to — but this story summarizes our presidential race and position in the world better than anything I can think of. Do you believe the former U.S. president — or the Kremlin?
Let those words sink in. Do you want to guess how many millions of people would be rolling in their graves if you even asked that question? You would take the word of a RUSSIAN — a despicable one named Vladimir Putin — over the man who promised to make America great again?
Yeah. In a heartbeat.
Here’s the full story if you want to read it. And if you want to believe Donald Trump, you have every right to. Just give your credibility a message for me: Dasvidaniya.
